I I need to bring my ivy geranium inside for the winter?
I received this plant as a gift in May. I set it as-is in an empty pot outside. I didnβt do much with it all summer and it has been doing fine. Itβs November now, still hasnβt gotten very cold, and itβs still flowering outside. Can I leave it to overwinter outside or do I need to bring it in and try to care for it in the house?

Hi Jennifer! It's best to bring your Ivy Geranium indoors before the first frost. They are not cold hardy and will likely die if left outside in freezing temperatures.
When you bring it inside, place it in a bright, sunny spot and water it regularly, allowing the soil to dry out slightly between waterings. You can also trim it back to encourage bushier growth.
With proper care, your Ivy Geranium should continue to bloom indoors throughout the winter.

@Lilac4334 Welcome to the Greg community! Since you have not disclosed your location it is hard to say if your plant will survive outside in the winter. Hereβs some general info: The native growth environment of ivy geranium requires temperatures between 20 to 38 β (68 to 100 β) for optimal growth. This plant prefers warm temperatures and should be protected from frost. During the winter months, it is recommended to keep the plant indoors where temperatures range from 21 to 24 β (70 to 75 β). Happy Growing!
