Is it normal for the flowers to dry? Do I snip these off?...

It's totally normal for old blooms to become expended and eventually dry/shrivel up, and brown. You can definitely clip these off, as this may encourage the growth of new blooms.
From what I've researched that plant grows in a slightly bushy manner so it can become very dense but should stay somewhat low, and lower to the soil line.
As far as longevity, I know several of my friends that have Kalanchoe that are over 7-9 years old! Of course that comes with regular and attentive care, too. โก
