An older gentleman that I was talking with about plants, told me a story about how he has two plants in his house. He explained that they were his grandmother’s plants that were passed down to him, and he has kept them alive for 30years! I thought that was amazing. He promised me a cutting of the one, but I’m not even sure what kind of plant it is. I just thought it was amazing how the plants have been with this family so long.
@PeachyParadise a few years ago my mom and I were at the grocery store and on a whim she bought me a little Christmas Cactus that was in a little 3" pot. Only had a couple stems. That following year she went through some serious health issues (broke her hip, found out she has type 2 diabetes while attempting to get a PETscan to check out the spots on her lungs, had to have a major femoral artery bypass surgery to restore circulation to her legs). That was one of the first plants I got on the road to what I have now. I sincerely hope I will be able to pass it on to my niece, who is also a plant lover. My mom is doing fine now πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ» and since my sister (niece's mom) committed suicide 5 years ago my niece and my mom have grown very close. I know it would mean the world to my niece to have it one day
@PeachyParadise my mum was gifted a pothos years ago and she in turn gave it to me (she’s an outdoor gardener and not a fan of the indoor variety). I have kept it alive for years and now am propagating it to make a housewarming gift for my SIL. πŸ πŸ’šπŸŒ±
@PeachyParadise Cayla I have several plants from my mother-in-law (she was the best one on earth) she even had started to propagate a plant when she passed and I have never tried this but it has grown so much since.. I also received her violet collection and my Ficus tree is a snip off the tree she received when my father-in-law passed in 1988. Blessed .. that sweet lady passed in 2018.
@CourtlyKingfern wow! That’s is a beautiful story. I love all those plants. I tried to start ficus cutting in once. They started to root and then I accidentally killed them. πŸ˜”
@PrizedShadscale I love that!
@Lifeis2short I’m so sorry for your loss. I like the idea of the plants bringing family together. πŸ’—
This baby was my momβ€˜s. She passed in 2009. A few weeks ago I separated her for my daughters. …πŸ₯ΉπŸ₯ΉπŸ₯Ή
I wanted to pass down a gorgeous jade but millipedes took half the plant 🌱🫀
