How much should you water a powder puff cactus in a east ...

#Mammillaria
6” pot with drainage
Last watered 5 days ago
Hi Lorrie, I let all of my cactus dry out almost all the way, and when I water, I water until it comes out the bottom of the pot (all my pots are terracotta), making sure none are sitting in any water (I don’t use saucers as mine are outside 24/7 except winter time). Mine are all East facing too. Just fyi- a 6 inch might be too big for your powder puff- they like to be a bit root bound, so when in larger pots be careful when watering because too big of a pot can lead to it holding more water than needed, and that can lead to root rot. I hope this helps 😊
I would second the recommendation to wait until it dries out before you water again :)
@SillyPlantGirl that goes for plastic pots, too.
@Gigisgirls Pot size does matter. I killed a robust, native prickly pear leaf, because it was in too big of a pot.
