Has anyone done a plant in a fish bowl?

I went to an office building once that had a vine of some sort (this was like 5 years ago - pre plant obsession but from the picture it looks like a #Syngonium to me) and it had a gold fish in it. How do I start this?! What plant is best? Do you feed the fish still, or does it eat off of the plant? Give me your knowledge please! Thank you!

Pic of what I saw! #ArrowheadPlant
ooh that’s neat. i have no idea but i’m curious to know too. ☺️

I personally have never seen this! Very interesting and cool as well!
We used to have a peace lily in tall vase, rocks just lining the bottom at work. We kept a gold fish in there and fed him sparingly every 3 day. The water had to be changed regularly. It was really beautiful. Wish I had a pic to share πŸ˜”
Found this on line. Check out pinterest
@SCStoneHair That does look really beautiful! However it might be better to have an actual fish tank with plants growing out of it, so there is adequate space for the fish and also a water filter. Here in the UK, the RSPCA give guidance for what is appropriate for fish, and it says goldfish need 60 litres of water each. Here's some more detail from their website about why below. πŸͺ΄πŸ’•πŸ±
Unsuitable aquariums

Decorative or fun tanks, like goldfish bowls, jars or children's tanks, have not been designed with fish welfare in mind:

Their small size isn't big enough, for example, goldfish require at least 60 litres of water each. Small volumes don't provide a stable environment for the fish to live in.

There isn't enough space for an efficient filter, so waste products can't be removed.

The low surface area means that not enough oxygen will be absorbed into the water.

Temperature levels can alter rapidly, which can cause stress and even death.
@SCStoneHair Hello πŸ‘‹ and welcome to Greg, Sarah!

What a cool 😎 idea. Love πŸ’• it. That may be something I’ll try this year. Thank you for the awesome idea.
I agree with Brigid. I would use a real fish tank for the health of the fish, and you could add some houseplants to it! Plenty of people do this and it looks great. It’s what’s best for the fish and the fish water will make your plants super happy! :)
@SCStoneHair @LovePhilos I really like the look of the tank set up in this video, I want to do this idea too now! Thanks for the inspiration Sarah 😊 πŸ’•πŸŒΏπŸŸ
