Hey #GregGang !!
Sooo I may have bought a mystery bag of 100 cactus seeds of Etsy and they may or may not be coming today and I may or may not have a few questions 🀣. So watering how did I go about that? What should I plant them in, I have extra nursery pots I could plant a few in each or should they be in something shallow for the moment? How long do cactus seeds last? Should I plant all of them at once 🫣? Bottom line HELP #CactusClique #SucculentSquad #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #PLANTMAFIA #helpme #help #PlantTherapy #Cactus #seeds #ThornyThursday
Hehe... πŸ‘€ because I also may or may not have a bag of mystery 🌡cacti seeds I want to plant this week.🀣
@AwesomePlants WERE IN THIS TOGETHER I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER 🀣 🌡 expect to be tagged in all my updates because I wanna see yours too🀣
The Helpmobile has arrived πŸš‘!

Cactus seeds need a lot more watering than their mature counterparts. They also love warm soil and that’ll help them be the best that they can be!

Plant them in gritty soil. You can plant each seed in a small pot or seed starter, then repot them as they get bigger.

As for how long they last I don’t know.

Should you plant all of themβ€” depends whether or not you want to take care of 100 seedlings all at once!
Haha! "Bottom line: HELP!"

I bet the sender will give you some great instructions. For me, the most important thing I read was to sterilize your seedling mix before you use it.

I boiled water, took a bowl of seedling mix, and I poured boiling water over my seedling mix and allow the water to cool. The next day I scooped it out with a fish tank net and squeezed the excess water out.

The seeds that I received were so small! My seller told me to mix the seeds and with some sand and put them in a salt shaker and shake them into the sterilized seedling mix in a shallow containerοΏΌοΏΌοΏΌοΏΌ.

Then I covered them a plastic wrap and put it in my little grow tent and waited.

Clearly I did not sprinkle them well. If you learn anything from this comment, make sure you sprinkle them well so they have space to grow. πŸ˜‰οΏΌοΏΌ

Mine aren't cactus but succulentsοΏΌ. I'm sure the care will be similar while they are starting outοΏΌ. (:
But you MIGHT only need that information, who said you were planting cactus seeds?
@sarahsalith 🀣🀣🀣🀣
@Mrgncrch #WhatTheSuccWednesday and @RJG got me hooked on Cacti...but I don't know anything about them really and there are so many to choose from. Figured this was the best way to grow my collection.
@ABCD oh no…. my biggest fear….
@sarahsalith I picked up some containers from Dollar Tree for this. Would you recommend doing like you did or putting in their own little 1" pots and covering?
@Mrgncrch what taking care of 100 seedlings? πŸ˜‚
@ABCD them not being cactus 🫣
@AwesomePlants I think you'll be able to control the humidity in a to-go container with plastic wrap better than the nursery pot... at least starting out.

They'll need lots of moisture like @ABCD said. And keeping them like this kept the soil at a good temperature as well.
@sarahsalith is that a cold cuts container πŸ‘€
@ABCD yup. Hillshire Farms deli select ham. οΏΌ
@sarahsalith those are the best!
@Mrgncrch Good news, we shall see what seeds we were sent.
@sarahsalith Awesome. I have heating mats as well. I will keep you all updated this weekend when I start.
@sarahsalith should I put holes in the bottom do they need drainage as seedlings?
@AwesomePlants mine should be coming this weekend too!! I’m glad I’m not alone in this πŸ₯³
@ABCD do they need a heating mat or is direct sun with humidity good?
You do not need to invest in a heating mat.

I tried (and failed) to grow lemon seeds and I covered them with plastic and put them in the sun. In the middle of the day I stuck my finger in the soil and it was very warm!
@ABCD do they need holes for drainage or no?
@Mrgncrch For seeds I’d say no
#ThornyThursday πŸ‘€
@PlantyPlanter Omg I didn’t know about this yess!!!
@Mrgncrch I don't put holes in the bottom when I'm starting seeds. I just make sure the soil isn't too saturated, put the plastic wrap on, and let them grow. I would open the plastic when Greg told me to water my plants just to let the air circulate.
@Mrgncrch do you think you could post this under the #ThornyThursday ? Maybe somebody could find this post and get help. Cacti can be tricky πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«
@PlantyPlanter I gotchu!!
@Mrgncrch Ya! 🀩🌡
@AwesomePlants My seeds arrived and I bought tuberware containers for them , I’m gonna plant them today!
@sarahsalith πŸ˜‹ I use take-out clamshells!
