What’s wrong with my snake plant ?! 😩πŸ₯Ί

So I repotted my silver snake plant today.. and I noticed it’s got a spot and it’s kinda mushy (only in the one spot) .. did I maybe over water ? It was in a glazed pot which maybe was keeping it wet for too long… but I just repotted in a 20 in terracotta because it was root bound. I’m assuming the cause it’s overwatering so if I don’t water it for a while & since I switched it to a more pourous option will it be okay? #SnakePlant #SnakePlantSquad #SucculentSquad #SucculentLove #Succulents #Succulent #GrowingSuccs #repot overwatering">#overwatering #question
6” pot with drainage
Last watered 1 month ago
Id say sonething hit it there def not overwatering damage
Someone mowing a lawn and rock or nut flying etc
@TheConservator really? I’m surprised because for one, It’s under a screened in porch & for two I don’t typically move them anywhere and I don’t know what could’ve hit it. You know, cause it’s in a pretty tucked in spot & the only thing that’s beside it is another snake plant & I have them arranged to where they won’t hit each other with their leaves. I just figured it has something to do with overwatering because it was staying moist in the glazed pot and also it was kinda mushy and soft and almost like translucent in color, but not completely so I honestly just figured it was something of that nature because I’ve never had anything like that show up on my snake plants before.
Id still say its damage from something. It happened fast i assume cause you seam to take good care.
Its def not overwatering way up there on the side. It would be floppy at the tops and getting mushy at the crown
Not even any marks from insects. Jusy blunt force trauma
@TheConservator well okay , interesting like you said I was pretty surprised cause I do keep very good care of plants . Thank you
Theres always second opinions out thereπŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. Ofc its just a guess for me, but i just dont see what else it could be except it got burned there from something? Crystal ornaments hanging in windows or reflection of some kind. No matter what the cause its not anything you can do to fix it though that i see πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ
Yes, it's overwatering. Do not water for 1.5 months. Then water very sparingly, once a month is enough when in part shade.

I have heaps of them growing , and flowering, in my garden.
I agree with @TheConservator that it seems very unlikely to be overwatering because it wouldn’t only affect that random spot. Is it possible that it was in a sunny spot and that area was hit by the sun hard or οΏΌsomehow retained some moisture on it causing sun damage on that spot? That has happened to a couple of my plants over the summer.
It could be a combination of things - mushy leaves definitely point to over watering, but the brown spot could have been caused by a sun burn or some other type of trauma to the area. Keep an eye on it to see if it increases, and hold off on watering for a while. Snake plants are hardy, so it should be fine, but if you notice the spot start to increase I’d cut the leaf just to be safe.
@Just1More hmm I think that sounds more likely… I’m gonna keep an eye out
All mine are inside near bright windows with no issues.. could be burnt or something from outside, I find the that year round temp control makes them happy! I have 8 or so in different rooms
@Lynsplants I have them in a screened in porch so it’s filtered direct light. They have never had any issues before, and I have all of four them outside in the same spot, and none of the others have had any issues.
Me personally I’d cut that leaf and move on… that’s what I do with any injuries or issues, otherwise they tend to focus on it and let the rest wait for energy
You may be able to cut it off then cut the tip and propagate it also
