Dead π
#Echeveria Guys my poor Susan is officially dead. Her leaves were all brown and I was watering her and the pretty blue-purple head popped off. π I hope I can another of these beautiful succulents. #DeadPlant #sorrybuddy
@I_luv_my_CaCTuS You have a succulent on your hands which was most likely overwatered, because you wanted to take care of your plant! Well, these plants store water in their leaves and should be in well draining soil. Like a gritty cactus soil. They should be watered thoroughly making sure that the water drains out from the drainage holes. Donβt let them sit in the water. Most importantly let the soil dry out completely before watering again. Use a pot with drainage holes. Unglazed terracotta is ideal because it allows excess moisture to evaporate faster. The pot size should be only slightly larger than the plant's rosette to avoid holding too much moisture. The best type of pot to keep them in would be a Terracotta pot. Terracotta is porous which means that the air can help dry out the soil. In the Fall/Winter when growth slows down, they will need a lot less water! As for Light Sunlight: Echeverias need at least six hours of bright, direct sunlight per day to thrive.
Indoor light: If growing indoors, place it near a sunny window or supplement with a grow light, as they will stretch out and become "leggy" without enough light. Temperature: They prefer warm, dry conditions and are not frost-tolerant. Bring them indoors during winter if temperatures drop below freezing. To care for an echeveria, provide at least six hours of bright sunlight daily and plant it in well-draining soil, such as a cactus mix, in a pot with drainage holes. Water only when the soil is completely dry, soaking it thoroughly and allowing it to dry out before watering again to prevent root rot. Keep it in a warm environment and protect it from cold temperatures, ideally between \(65-75^{\circ }F\). Hope this helps!!
