Underwatered/fungal/dramatic af?

Over the holidays these two went a few days past needing to be watered and have gone from beautiful and perfect to blemishes on every leaf. Can I cut them back and have it regrow or give up and buy new ones? #RattlesnakePlant #CalatheaCrew #StromantheTriostar
3ft to light, direct
7” pot with drainage
Last watered 4 days ago
It almost looks like fertilizer burn to me.. did you fertilize it recently? Also what kind of water do you use to water it?
@gothygremlin it’s possible but I usually do a super weak amount every time I water. Water is Brita filtered
@SarahSugarShack my rattlesnake is super sensitive to the water I use, even filtered. i use distilled water. I would maybe prune back a few of the leaves, and skip out on using any fertilizer your next couple waterings and wait it out to see if you have any new growth. You could mix a little bit of 3% hydrogen peroxide in one of your next watering as well to help promote healthy root growth as well
@gothygremlin yes good idea!
I use distilled with all my calathea's because they are just so freaking finicky πŸ™„ I have had much better success with them since.
Like @gothygremlin said about water, I concur. This looks like mineral issues in the water that calathea can’t seem to handle. Going 1-3 days past watering time for my plants would have resulted in droop, not these edges. Also, from what I have read calathea need fertilizer that is gentle enough for orchids. πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ I stopped using distilled water once I started using a water conditioner, and my plants are okay with it. I use the stress coat to de-chlorinate among other things. And the second pic is the fertilizer I use that’s gentle enough for orchids. Good luck!
