Those pots from home depot are infamous for becoming hydrophobic. Basically the soil wont even absorb water anymore. You csn check to see by checking the weight before and after you water. If its the same it didnt hold any ! Or you can take it out of the pot to see after you water. It will rehydrate by soaking in a bowl if water each time you water, until its wet. But overhead waterjng it jusg rins arojnd the sides .
One thing with hanging plants that I think a lot of people don't know, is that it's important to make sure that the top of the plant gets light, not just the hanging part. So it's important to make sure that your pot is hanging low enough to get that bright indirect light to the top of it that @TheConservator was talking about.
