Alocacia corms

I recently got some corms from my alocaacia Leonardo and wasn’t sure about how to water, I assumed to missed but I’ve seen videos that add water at the edge of the container and not a direct mist, will a direct mist cause rotting?!?! #corms #AlocasiaAddicts #Alocasia #alocasiacorms
0ft to light, indirect
2” pot without drainage
Last watered 1 year ago
My advice, if you have small plastic sauce containers, is to make holes at the bottom, fill them with about 2 inches of perlite, and then insert half of your corms into the perlite. Place the small container into another container filled with water, ensuring the water level doesn't exceed 1 inch for example . This way, the corms won't be submerged, but the perlite will stay moist. Since corms need a lot of humidity, place the whole setup inside another transparent box with a lid. Make sure to have a few holes in the lid for ventilation to prevent mold.
@BotanicalMouse this is what I did with mine. Old mayo jar and has some Tradescantia Nanouk in it too
@BotanicalMouse - Don’t you just love how cute the corms are?! I have had really good success with growing my alocasia in water and Leca - I am a big fan! The Leca helps to hold the little corm in place. I wash off the Leca when I first get it, add the Leca and water into a container (this one is glass), then I take the corm, and wiggle it down into the Leca, leaving the top, right outside the water!
Also, make sure the little corm β€œshoot” is facing upwards - the google image shows the little green shoot at the top of the corm.
