The soil was very dry after a week and I decided to water...
@Toatesmagoates Hi Tira, I believe it's a light and soil issue. 3.3ft seems a little too far to me. Place it in a spot with at least six hours of bright, indirect sunlight each day. A south or east facing window is perfect. You also might want to change the soil to a succulent soil mix so he's not holding on to excess water. Water only when the top couple of inches of soil are dry. Even if the app says it's time to water always check the plant first. When you do finally water it manually put it into the app. The app is AI monitored and will eventually learn the watering schedule of the plant.
Hi Tira! Yellowing leaves on a pineapple plant can be caused by a few things, including overwatering, underwatering, or nutrient deficiencies.
Since you just watered the plant, it's possible that you might have overwatered it. Pineapple plants prefer well-draining soil and should only be watered when the top inch of soil is dry. Overwatering can lead to root rot, which can cause the leaves to yellow and the plant to wilt.
To help your pineapple plant recover, you can try the following:
* Check the roots: Gently remove the plant from the pot and inspect the roots. If you see any signs of rot, such as mushy or black roots, trim them off with a clean, sharp knife.
* Repot the plant: Repot the plant in a well-draining potting mix and a pot with drainage holes.
* Water less frequently: Water your pineapple plant only when the top inch of soil is dry.
* Provide adequate light: Pineapple plants need bright, indirect light. Place your plant in a sunny location.
If you continue to see yellowing leaves, you may want to consider fertilizing your plant with a balanced liquid fertilizer. However, be careful not to over-fertilize, as this can also damage the plant.
With a little TLC, your pineapple plant should recover.

@princesspitstop thanks so much! I have a grow light would that help make up for the lack of sunlight I get? I donβt think anywhere in my apartment gets more than 3 hours of bright sunlight
@Toatesmagoates I feel you. I used to live in what my husband would call the dungeon. Lol Yes a grow light would be essential in your case. ππ
@USAGardenHub my pineapple is also yellowing since I got it. I used succulent soil mix, placed it on the back porch (shade and plenty of sun). I have no idea how to make it to thriveπ
