Maidenhair ferns thrive in consistently moist soil and high humidity. If the soil is allowed to dry out completely between waterings, or if the air around the plant is too dry, the delicate fronds can quickly turn brown and crispy. Some maidenhair ferns are sensitive to the chemicals in tap water, such as chlorine or fluoride, which can also contribute to leaf browning. Using filtered water or rainwater can be beneficial.
Iβve never had good luck keeping my ferns in the pot I buy them in! Maybe a new pot and new plant specific soil would help? Some are more finicky than others! I donβt have high humidity at my place at all and my 6 species are doing well where I have them.. it really depends on location and plant house type here! I have mine in low or no drainage pots. Good luck!
