Top heavy Sahara split into pieces! What do I do?
#PricklyPear She started growing straight up, super tall and skinny. I guess it was too top heavy because I found photo 1 on the ground the other day and tonight came home to photo two on the ground. Photo 3 is what remains in the pot. What do I do?? Do you just simply stick these pieces back into dirt? Or do you put them in water and wait for roots? I’ve never propagated cacti before. @HopelesslyGreen the remaining nub is fine just stick it out in the sun and it’ll grow more babies!!😁
Like @Smokie-mcpot710 says, I’d stick it in dirt. When I’m waiting for cacti to grow roots I water closer to 3-4 weeks instead of 2-3 weeks. When I’ve watered every 2-3 weeks I’ve killed the cacti. Also, using the f- around and find out method, I’ve put a succulent in water to see if it grows roots, and every time I’ve tried it, it just rots. So, I would advise against that method for roots.
