Could it be getting too much sun? But morning sun is supposed to be gentler. I thought Japanese maples were shade-lovers. Is there a way to block the sun till autumn? A table umbrella โ˜‚? New trees are always fussy when settling in. Like babies ๐Ÿ˜‚. We had a Japanese maple ๐Ÿ when I was a kid. It was carefree once established (pennsylvania) and just gorgeous with deep red leaves. ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š

Sun and shade
Bloodgood Japanese maple trees prefer to grow in partial shade, or about four hours of direct, unfiltered sunlight per day. They can also grow in full sun, which is six hours or greater. However, shadier planting sites will lead to more robust and vivid foliage colors.
Thinking the 100 degree heat might be adding to it also. Am I supposed to pick the dead leaves off at top?
