Hi Yareli! Elephant bushes are succulents, so a terracotta pot is best. They're porous so they help the soil dry out faster between waterings. Overwatering, which leads to root rot, is the most common way that folks end up killing their succulents, so ONLY water when the soil is completely dry. Better to underwater than overwater! Also make sure the new pot is no more than 2-3 inches bigger than the plant's root ball, and use a gritty, well draining soil (the kind specifically made for succulents is ideal, but I always add extra perlite to improve drainage. You can find a big bag of perlite at any big box store for around $7. Mix it with soil at a rate of 1 part perlite, 3 parts soil).
@QueenTutu88 Fertilizer isn't really necessary for succulents, and it's usually already added to most commercial soil mixes. You can buy fertilizer specifically made for cacti/succulents. If you go that route, stick to only fertilizing during the growing season (spring-early fall). That actually reminds me of another watering tip...they don't need to be watered as frequently in the winter since it's their dormant season.
@QueenTutu88 yeah, what @stephonicle said lol.
