Not healthy

#Echeveria
I just got my Echeveria β€˜Persia’ today. I’m a first time plant owner and I’m not sure how to care for my plant, so advice would be greatly appreciated. It has a torn leaf and some waterlogged leaves, but it came that way. How do I make my plant healthy? Also, why does my specific plant not pop up on this app? I had to log it as Echeveria Blue instead
Yo where'd you get that? Asking for a friend. πŸ‘€
@Charli3Plant I’m pretty sure they just got it in the plant section of Walmart
To answer your question, the first thing to do is learn how your plant works. Every plant is different, just like every person is different. It's important to remember 2 things: 1) it's alive, and 2) it wants to live. The torn leaf will callous over, so don't stress about it too much. I would remove any leaves that look over watered: anything discolored, literally bursting at the seams, anything that feels mushy and gross (reabsorbed leaves don't feel like this). What type of soil do you have it in? What's the drainage situation looking like? When in doubt, hold off on watering, and give it plenty of direct sunlight to support it through winter.
@Charli3Plant how do I remove the leaves without messing up more of the plant? And what do I do aboutt the dried out leaves hidden under the big leaves?
Last comment I promise: Greg is terrible at identifying Echeveria and wants them all to be E. elegans (they're not lol). It's possible that 1) no one has logged this particular variety in the app so it isn't in the database, or 2) you didn't search the name properly (it can be very picky sometimes).
@Charli3Plant okay thank you. Do you have anywhere you’d recommend for getting the correct information on my plant?
@EcheveriaLove Gently lift the upper leaves and pull the old ones away. You'll rub some of the farina off but it happens. I love removing the old crunchy leaves, it's so satisfying.

Since it came from a big box store, you're probably gonna want to change the soil soon. Get a cactus mix, some perlite, and try to get as much of the current medium off as possible. It's designed to retain moisture, which is fine for a warm greenhouse, but is less than ideal for most home environments.
@Charli3Plant thanks. I’ll be sure to do that
@Charli3Plant seems particularly wise and offers advice for this little plant and life more mysteriously
If you know the species of the echeveria, you can input it manually by editing the plant info, too!
@BoldFrithia65 I've noticed that we tend to be very animal and human centric when living things are discussed. We forget that plants are alive as well, but that life is different from animal life. Sometimes the best thing to do is to just let our plants do their thing and take care of themselves.
