Can snake plants survive in pots without drainage?
Iβve had my snake plant in a pot that doesnβt have drainage holes for a few months now. Itβs gotten a bunch of new leaves and I had cut the bottom of a nursery pot with drainage off and placed it upside down in the pot that itβs into try to give it some makeshift drainage. Is that okay? The plant seems okay but I donβt want to hurt it π

I don't think potted plants do well without drainage in the long run, especially succulents like snake plants. Overwatering is the number one killer of succulents because they are very susceptible to root rot because they are grown in environments that don't get a lot of rainfall or dry out very quickly. If you choose to go without drainage holes, you must be very careful and conservative about watering your plant.
@GhibliSprouts great! That makes sense, Iβve basically only been watering about once a month and wait until the whole pot is completely dry. For the amount of water, do you give them just a little bit? Like not as much water as a pot with drainage?
@Seedstarter that makes sense. I will make sure to monitor it and make sure the soil is completely dry before watering. Next time they need a repot, Iβll put them in one with drainage holes
@RulerTaromojito yeah pretty much! For a while I had one in a no drainage pot and I made sure to only water it a little bit. My pots with drainage I sit in a filled sink and let them soak up how they want and then pull them out to drain after before going back to their spot. My non drainage containers get watered less often and if Iβm watering on a more frequent schedule (like itβs sunny) I always check the soil before I water. If itβs dry more than halfway Iβll water
