Helllllllllllp :(
#RubberPlant whatβs wrong with my rubber plant? growth is stunted i think, tooβ¦. & leaves are getting smaller :(
@MotherAmurmaple I definitely wouldnβt be worried!! Especially since itβs a base leaf. How much light are you getting? And regular watering schedule (water when soil is dry dry Iβve found rubber trees prone as heck to root rot π₯Ήπ€¨π)? They need lots of light for big leaf growth! Best of luck let me know if you have any questions :) they can also be a little fickle indoors :/ when I repot I usually lose leaf size or if Iβm not watering regularly thatβll stunt growth :) I just repotted and hence little new leaves at the top!! Sorry I donβt have a pic of the ruby rubber right now :)
@Prentyce thanks for the tips! iβm wondering if i should repot her & add more light. i just learned my grow light is giving a lot less wattage than i originally thought π i also thought about moving her closer to my window, but its north facing
@Prentyce ps: your plant is very beautiful!!
@MotherAmurmaple when is the last time you repotted? That soil looks a bit old, so it's possible all the nutrients have been leeched out. Rubber trees do best with some direct sun, but depending on your grow light a north facing window might be better than its current set up. Are there any roots coming out of the drainage holes at the bottom? When you repot, make sure the new pot isn't more than about 2" bigger than its current pot. I have all of mine in succulent soil with extra perlite mixed in, and I use diluted liquid organic plant food at every watering. Like @Prentyce said, they can be quite susceptible to root rot, which is why I have mine in a terracotta pot (they're porous so the soil dries out faster).
@stephonicle itβs been a few months since itβs been repotted, no roots coming out of drainage holes yet
@MotherAmurmaple then it's most likely a light issue. If you just repotted a few months ago, it's not ready to be repotted yet. They only need repotting every few years, or when roots start coming out drainage holes. Repotting can also cause stress, so it might still be recovering from some transplant shock. If your grow light is too weak or isn't big enough for the entire plant to be in its "cone of light", putting it in the north-facing window is fine. Mine is in a north/northwest facing window, it only gets a very short amount of direct sun in the late afternoon but it seems to really like its spot π
@stephonicle thank you for the tips!
