Please help! Whatβs wrong with my spider plant. I bought ...
4ft to light, indirect
4β pot
Last watered 1 week ago
Hi Tracy, Austen is getting too much water. Replant in some good draining soil like a succulent mix and plant it in a pot with drainage holes. They don't like to be wet. It could cause root rot real quick so repot as soon as you can then don't water it until the top 25% of soil is dry. Use a chopstick or your finger to test by sticking it in the top about 2 inches down. If the stick/finger comes out wet wait a few days and check it again. When the stick/finger comes out dry then you can water. Manually update the app when you water instead of going by what the app says until he gets better. But still as a rule of thumb make sure he needs water before giving him a drink. Also put him closer than 3.5ft to the window where it can get a lot of bright indirect light. He needs a bright area to photosynthesize and grow some strong roots. Make sure he's not near a draft like a fan or heater blowing on him. He should be fine but most important is getting him in some dry soil as soon as you can. πππ
@princesspitstop thank you! I do have him in a drainage pot. I have not repotted him since he came in the mail a few weeks ago!
@Victoriamerr thank you!
@TracyH9964 I would definitely repot him in a well draining soil. I know itβs frowned upon, but I use a miracle grow, perlite, and fir bark mix for most of my plants that need good drainage. They seem to really thrive. Donβt get discouraged. As long as there is green, there is life! ππΏ
@Bayleaf1995 thank you
@RadiantGinseng what do you think now? I think it is dying. I repotted it with potting soil. Perlite, and orchard bark and put near a window. I just put took off brown leaves
