What to do about yellowing and dying leaves?
Iβm not sure where you are located but at this time of year, whenever it is, itβs probably too cold outside for that plant. Banana plants thrive in humidity. You should bring it indoors. Your card also indicates no drainage. You should move it to a pot that has adequate drainage. They donβt like soggy roots and can be prone to root rot with no drainage or sitting in soggy soil. I have my largest one inside by a humidifier with a grow light and my two little bananas I keep in a greenhouse with grow lights. They are doing great.
@Shells_Garden looks like they're in south FL βΊοΈ don't know enough about banana trees to know if that's tropical enough to be outdoors year-round lol
@SilkenBuroak10 I agree with @Shells_Garden that you definitely need a pot with drainage holes. Besides minimizing the risk of root rot, it also allows excess fertilizer and mineral buildup to be flushed out.
@stephonicle thank you. I didnβt notice the location. You are right, they can likely survive outside in FL winter. I live in CA and mine could survive too but I still bring them indoors during winter months. I donβt actually winter them here per se, but I do keep them warm and humid! Mine are only babies though 5 inch and 8 inch pots
