Does anyone know why all the leaves fell off? π
It was so pretty but at some point the leaves started to falling down, and they had this big brown spots before falling down. #FiddleLeafFig

Hi Regina π FLFs are notoriously finnicky!! Please don't feel too downhearted about it, it's totally possible to nurse him back to health!
Hmm... Big brown spots often indicates a fungal infection, the most common of which is root rot. How far do you let his soil dry out before watering? It could be that it's staying a bit too wet!
Confusingly, UNDERwatering can also cause browning and leaf drop, although it looks a little different, so it's really important to get it right! π
FLFs are also prone yo bacterial infections like brown spot and hate drafts/ sudden changes in temperature etc (like I said, they're finnicky! π).
It might be an idea to slide him out of his pot and check his roots as a first step?
#theamigos #brunchataudreys hey guys, are any of you keeping a Floof (FLF just sounds right said that way... To me! Haha π I'm not talking about kitties for once!) at the moment? Maybe you have some tips for Regina? π₯° Xx

@Kapuac so I water it every two weeks, when the app reminds me! I have noticed that when I get the reminder to water it the soils is still humid
@JenniB81 so I think the app reminds me every two weeks to water it, but I also noticed that the soils is still wet. And I put the plant in water so it can absorb the water it needs. thank you so much! Do you know how I can check itβs roots?
Ok, so if the soil is still damp when Greg tells you to water please hit to snooze button and leave off giving her a drink π when you hit snooze it puts Greg into learning mode, it'll remind you again in three days to water, but test the soil again (really reach as far down as you can push one finger!) and if it's STILL damp... Snooze again! It'll take a couple of weeks at least for Greg to learn what your plant needs but it will get there π
If the soil isn't drying out enough it's a recipe for root rot! And FLFs are pretty finnicky anyway tbh, they're definitely Divas in their own right! Lol π€£
I'm afraid I think you need to take her out of her pot and check her roots for rot. Any that are black, brown, smelly or squishy need to be surgically removed with sterlised scissors or snips. It feels brutal but the infection will only spread if you don't, so be brave πͺ
Then douse the remaining roots in peroxide solution and repot her in some nice fresh soil. Give her a wee drink... And then walk away π«£ and let her do her thing!
I don't water any one of my 120+ plants without testing the soil first, especially at this time of year! It takes so much longer for my soil to dry now the windows are closed and the heating is on! It's a prime breeding ground for fungi and bacteria if you think about it π«£π xx

I would say itβs either pests or overwatering (underwatering would prob make them dry & brittle but would not fall off until itβs way past u noticing anything). I have a fiddle leaf but not as well-versed as I will be so I would research pests that βlikeβ the fiddle and either determine or eliminate that as ur issue. If u eliminate pests then I would suspect overwatering (also if itβs under-watering, when u DO water, the water would run straight to the bottom and out drainage holes; meaning the soil was too dry to absorb the water throughout. Since u seem to be more concerned rather than less, I would eliminate that as a case as well. Also, if u r watering based on correct schedule, if u have other plants that thrive, it would also tend to exclude neglect of ur plant). IOW; if u r under-watering, u should see this issue w/all ur plants just based on practice. What I would do if u want to save THIS plant is to remove any unhealthy growth that remains, then treat it as u would if u were adjusting ur care of any other plant. U may need to be vigilant in observing the dryness of the soil, keep this plant in sunlight for several hours in the morning light and just baby it for a while. If it is still viable, u should notice new growth as u offer TLC for a time. If u come to determine that itβs not viable, then make the decision if u would like to replace it but have on hand any items u would need to pre-emptrively avoid this same result & go from there. More an art than a science but just by a smidge. Just live and learn but anyone so concerned to write ur post would most definitely be successful this go-round simply as it shows how much u care and ur determination to do the right things as u learn about this plants personality and needs. Good luck!!!!
