Is my plant past saving?

I just bought an aloe plant. And sadly when i check the roots were already rotting. Any tips? Its my first time caring for this type of plants. The leaves turned yellowish and im not sure its its mushy since im not sure how firm an aloe vera is to begin with. #aloevera

Most often than not, you can put it in water (I prefer filtered, drinkable water) and wait for a couple of weeks to see if it will regrow roots. Then, after about 4 weeks, you can repot it in dirt. I’ve saved a couple of plants like this :) Make sure you change the water at the very least once a week or, if you can, every 3 days. Since its stagnant water with organic matter, it can get smelly and be counterproductive for the plant if you don’t do so.
Distilled water and a vase…. On a windows sill that’s anything other than north facing and you’re good!
I had saved my aloe from my exs coworker and it looked just like this. I did exactly what keylah and Miguel had said. I've had her about 8 years now and I've split her 3 years ago! Best of luck!!!
