HELP! My Fittonia is not perking up after watering.
Hello! My sweet fittonia is being extra tempermental and is not perking up after a water. I went as far as buying her a humidifier. I was worried I overwatered so I am letting it dry out (the soil IS moist). Iβm at a loss π I inspected roots and thereβs no rot. Please help! #Fittonia #NervePlant

3ft to light, indirect

Last watered 2 weeks ago

These absolutely positively need a terrarium enviroment to survive. The other one Prentyce talks about was actually also enclosed in a greenhouse environment. Normal house humidity just won't cut it. You can just stick the pot in a big jar if you have one. Or pop a mason jar. Plastic bag whatever on top of the pot to trap that humidity inside. Otherwise the leaves just dry out droop and eventually die..
They are incredibly easy to grow if they've got that humidity. Some examples of mine.
Must be a closed environment I do keep the lids slightly cracked but barely.

@RemarkableMoss I just saw a fittonia is success post!! :) let me tag the friends who helped. Iβm not sure where the original post was ! :) @SuperbRaspfern @BabeVila Nerve plant help friends pleaseee ? :)
@NikkiBplantmom same this is #2 for me. Sheβs been doing well for about 4 months but now I am not sure what happened :(
@RemarkableMoss omg swear I went through same thing after 4 months!
@SuperbRaspfern if I go buy her a jar do you think she can survive?
I do they are quite hearty. Just cut it back so that there are only 6-8 leaves on it that way it can dedicated it energy to new growth. I would definitely try you should start to see new growth in 1-2 weeks. She's stressed right now so she needs a bit of time to bounce back but you will be surprised by how fast she does. β€οΈ
Hi! I have 3 fittonia, and they do fine outside a terrarium, but I do have them all in self-watering pots. They do need the consistent moisture and humidity, which this provides, plus I have small humidifiers next to them just for good measure. Iβve had the pink one for over a year now, and the red one for a couple of months with no issues. The most important factors are humidity and consistent moisture β₯οΈπΏ
@SuperbRaspfern EEEK!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE THE FAIRYπ€©β¨π₯Ήπ± omg!! How incredible!! I am totally doing this with a Fittonia now
@SuperbRaspfern your nerve plants are Beautiful. Love the glass case.
@RemarkableMoss I would definitely amp up the humidity 1. A pebble tray. 2. Plastic over the top to trap the moisture. 3. Give it the best light you can. My setup is a pebble tray humidifier and grow light
@GreenPurpose Aww, thank you! It's all really about finding your plants 'sweet spot'. When I get a plant it's more about figuring them out and the reward is having long term plants that don't just live, they thrive.
When I was younger I used to surf. I had 3 boards and all had a unique and different 'sweet spot' the part of the board that you had control you weren't flipped off the front or back but that steady place where you could turn easy and get a long ride.
I look at plants the same way you need to find the 'sweet spot" once you find it your golden. Care is easy and they thrive without much work.
Yours is quite beautiful as well! β€οΈ

@GreenPurpose They have lids I removed them for their photos!
@SuperbRaspfern you were so right and I thank you SO much! Sheβs already doing SO much better.
