Your plant shouldn't have a stem. If it does, that means it wants to reach the sun and get all of the rays it can. Also, what hemisphere are you in? If you're in the North (like me), put it in a south window (can also be southwest or southeast) right up against it. If you're in the south, put it in a north facing window (can also be northeast or northwest) and right up against it. Succulents *LOVE* the sun. The more hours, the better.
