Leggy leggy leggy

I received a beautiful beefsteak begonia from my aunt. She’s had it for many decades. When I received it, it was SUPER leggy, the rhizomes were pouring out and over the pot. I’ve attempted to repot (normally I don’t in the fall but it was dropping quick), and staked her up until acclimation happens. Just wondering if anyone here has any tips and tricks. (It’s a lot of pressure acquiring plants that someone’s had their entire adult life, and entrusted them to me)

Following! I have two new ones of my own and I love that she’s had yours for decades. Yes that’s some pressure 😂 I wish I had tips but I’m here to learn. Sending good vibes to Elephant in its new home!!
My begonia is a maculata so I’m not sure if it would be the same. But I have mine right in front a window that gets bright but indirect sun allllllll day long. I water her maybe twice a month (maybe less meow that it’s getting cold.) and I don’t let her completely dry out though. And she is staked as well because goodness she has legs for days! Good luck with your new (to you) Bebe! 💚💚💚
@Mojo thank you! She’s struggling we will see how the winter goes. I moved to a sunnier room. My aunt was told this was an “elephant ear” plant…she propagated from one leaf. I had to break it to her that, no indeed it was not an elephant ear lol. She got a good laugh. Hence the name I chose, elephant.
