Plant cabinet help?

Hi all- I found this old grandfather clock, minus the clock, for $10 at Goodwill. As soon as I saw it, I wanted to put plants in it. What are your tips for growing plants inside a cabinet… or clock as the case may be. 😁 #PlantCabinet #PlantAddict #PlantsMakePeopleHappy
@Ehlane nice find. Ummm πŸ€” @RJG @sarahsalith any suggestions?
I don't have a cabinet but I think that @hoyahead just converted a cabinet to a plant cabinet! πŸ‘€
@Ehlane No suggestions here but I can’t wait to see what you do with it πŸ‘€ I’m sure someone or something will give you inspiration soon enough.
Thanks for the tag @RJG ☺️ And hellooo Ehlane! Drew is right β€” I’m in the process of converting a cabinet (much like yours!) into a DIY indoor plant greenhouse, a la the poor people’s ikea greenhouse πŸ˜‚ but if you’re interested in the methods and materials I’m using, head over to #AlexTriesDIY where I’ve posted two detailed updates so far (with more to come in the near future!). Let me know if you have any specific questions, I’d be happy to help in any way that I can! Cool concept with the clock conversion, and what a great bargain find! 😎
@discreetwildyam a bit of both, I guess. I think it will end up with higher humidity in there just by the nature of being enclosed, but I don’t feel the need to actively humidify it. Was thinking it would be a really fun home for my new variegated dragon tail pothos.
So it seems as if I need to weatherproof this… I did NOT think this through πŸ˜‚
Highly recommend putting a small fan inside for airflow. You're right that it likely won't need the extra humidity, but it will definitely need air flow.
Update! Treated the inside, gave it a new base, added cedar planks in the back for my new shingle plants. Repurposing a grow light I already had, but may upgrade later. Will repot these babies tomorrow and get the started going up the planks!
