Should I water again or wait?

Hello I need help with my newest babies. I got these two #Philodendron on Saturday in the mail and potted them up in a chunky soil mix in terra cotta pots. I did water them but the soil is already dry. Now, Greg suggests I wait about 6 more days to water again. These are my very first #Philos 😬 and don’t want to kill them.. the one on the left is a #RoyalQueenPhilodendron and the right is a #PinkPrincessPhilodendron .. both came with a new leaf unfurled. my #ppp has already unfurled it and my #RoyalQueenPhilodendron is getting there. Should I water again or wait ?.. thank you… #HappyPlants #PlantAddict #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantTherapy #
They look adorable!

I would wait at least a few more days and keep an eye on them. They’ll tell you if they’re thirsty. But then again I always prefer to err on under versus over watering.

I would think around once a week or a little longer will be your normal routine for watering these guys
@lemrobs thank you
I’d give them just a bit of water, they are going to be in shock for a while. One extra watering won’t hurt them but it could help alot
@NMazon if they are dry I would absolutely give them some water. Terracotta pots pull water from the soil which makes the soil dry out quicker. I water all of my plants that are in terracotta pots more often than what Greg recommends.
If new I'd wait just a bit longer. With a repot comes unavoidable root damage. Water can then get into the open wounds and cause bacterial infections(root rot) and with it being weaker from the stress of repotting and new environment its vulnerable . Just check the soil really well and look at the state of the plant, and check te pots all around to feel for any wet spots then you can do what you feel is right. Only you can get a good feel for what they need bc you know the environment and seeing them in person makes it easier to determine what they could need. Best of luck and don't stress over whaf to do just do what feels rightβ—†
