It almost died with grandma

Is it true I can cut this fella down with about 4"of bare trunk, put the cutting in water to root (allowing me to later bury up to the new growth on top), AND the stump will grow continue to grow? This is my wife's late grandmother's plant that I salvaged, so I can't get it wrong. #dragontree

Yes, just make sure you cut right below a node using sterilized scissors or pruners. Make the cut at a 45ยฐ angle, which creates more surface space (more surface space = more roots). The remaining stump won't be able to photosynthesize, so it will take a while before any new growth shows up. You'll need to drastically reduce watering frequency so it doesn't rot, and provide plenty of bright light. If you can share a photo that has the entire plant/trunk in it, I can mark it showing you exactly where to cut.

May I ask why you're chopping 'n propping? If the plant card photo is current, it doesn't look unhealthy. Just curious ๐Ÿค“
It's in a tight corner. Is this enough
It was full of leaves until it was left out in the snow. I feel like it would look better as 2 trees.
