It’s new to me!
Hey GF!! Just had to reach out and ask if anyone has ever seen this happen before. It’s a first for me.
I’m a bit of a Calathea junky…can’t get enough!! I have a Calathea Fasciata ‘Rotundifolia’ that I got maybe 2/3 years ago. She’s been doing well however, I was literally just looking at her and I’ve noticed that newest leaves are no long round!!! lol like when I first got her and for the first 2/2.5 years I had her, she put out nice round leaves that were about the same size and shape of the leaves on my Calathea Orbifolia. I was just looking at her now though and her newest growth has completely changed shape and they now more closely resemble my Calathea Freddie or even my Calathea Maui Queen!! lol isn’t that strange?!?! Has anyone ever seen this before?!
Just fyi, the 1st and 2nd pics are new growth. The 3rd pic is one of her oldest leaves… #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #SucculentLove #PlantTherapy #PetsAndPlants #PlantCorner #GregGang #Greggers #GreggersSupportingGreggers #CalatheaCrew #NEPAGregGang #greenthumbwannabe

@PioneerRutabaga Wow that is so cool. I haven't seen that before either. Maybe it is a mutation if the new pointy leaves are on the same growth-node?🪴 If it is, you might be able to separate it from the rest of the plant!
@MockingJay oh neat! How can I tell if they are on the same growth node or not? Do I need to take it out of the pot at all?
@PioneerRutabaga you don't need to take it out of the pot to check😊 Just follow the leaf stem down to the soil and see which leaves are growing out of the same spot🌱 Each "spot" could potentially be devided off at the base to become new plants, but you should make sure each part has roots attached before deviding😊🪴
@Azplantchic that’s really interesting actually and something I’d never even think to consider.
Tell me your thoughts…I have 25 different Calathea species and they are all huddled together around a big north west facing window and two humidifiers!!! lol.
Now recently, within the last 2/3 months, I brought them all 25 into my kitchen bc they all got a dust/pest dip with the sprayer in the sink. I don’t think I put them all be in actually the same spot they were in, but they were def all out back around that same window and the same general location. Do you think that would be significant enough of a change in spot that it might cause something like that? And would 2/3 months be enough time? It wasn’t that long ago they had their baths lol…

@PioneerRutabaga oh that’s a hard one. I’m not really sureI that’s the cause or not.
