Alocasia Help?

Hello everyone. I woke up to my Dragon Scale Alocasia looking pretty droopy and out of sorts. I watered him a couple of days ago, and his soil is damp but not soaked. The weather hasnโ€™t changed much except that itโ€™s a little cooler and rainy today. I love this little guy and what to help! Do you have any idea what might be causing the droop? Iโ€™ve included before and after photos. Thank you!!!! #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #AlocasiaAddicts #PlantProblems #DragonScaleAlocasia #Alocasia #PlantRX

@LaSiguanaba Hi Rose Red what are his general conditions like eg humidity, do you know how intense the light is eg light meter app Photone? I may end up dragon ๐Ÿ‰ a reply out so I am sure some else can help if I don't get back here. A very nice plant! Did he have his coffee this morning or did he spit it out? LOL ๐Ÿ˜† ๐Ÿ˜‰
@Seymour We are in a humid time of the year and my house usually hovers around 53% humidity. Iโ€™ve been thinking about getting some mini humidifiers for my pickier plants, but havenโ€™t done so yet. I havenโ€™t measured the lightโ€”itโ€™s bright but it IS an east facing window, so not ideal. Lighting is a problem in my houseโ€ฆ. ๐Ÿค”
@LaSiguanaba the reason I ask is that it is most likely not receiving enough light, water, or humidity issue and we need to work out which one or combination?
@Seymour No, it just appears to be the stems, the leaves seem unaffected. The stalks are very bowed over. He used to stand straight up and now heโ€™s slouching a lot.
@LaSiguanaba for a start that humidity might be a bit low for him, is there somewhere eg bathroom with more humility? Or if you look at a humidifier but they cost. I don't recommend misting, studies show not very effective as temporary and may affect his leaves..which we definitely don't want
@LaSiguanaba I think the light might be an issue, now all we need is the water to be an issue and we win the trifecta! LOL ๐Ÿ˜†
@LaSiguanaba They drop their leaves if there is not enough sunlight and as you say it may be less than ideal...
@Seymour See my problem is I love Alocasias but they seem finickyโ€”kinda like Pinky Gossemar, but with less flair and shorter eyelashes.
@Seymour If only I could rotate my house and make Oregon sunnier. Hmmmmโ€ฆ Iโ€™ll save that for AFTER coffee โ˜•๏ธ ๐Ÿคช
@LaSiguanaba and we may have a winner as overwatering can lead to a rotten stem so here's a watering guide I often suggest, not sure if you have seen it before? If you have, please accept my oversight. One last thing to consider tmand that is nutrients, have your fertilized?
@LaSiguanaba actually funny you should say rotating as it is a good idea to rotate him if you don't already...obviously to keep the growth even on all sides
@Seymour Iโ€™ve been so careful about trying not to overwater. I really donโ€™t think thatโ€™s it, but I suppose it might beโ€ฆ I need to find a better location for him, I just have few windows that get really good light. Plus it is an incredibly grey time of the year in my little corner of the world.
@LaSiguanaba as they say in the realty game location, location, location...I think that is largely whay it comes down to as the humidity at least needs to be higher...
@LaSiguanaba underwatering and they go into their dormancy period...
@Seymour Why are some plants such drama queens? ๐Ÿ‘ธ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ™„
@LaSiguanaba I know you say it may not be overwatering but I think the light issue might be resulting in overwatering and hence a wobbly plant but usually it can include yellow leaves
@LaSiguanaba because we love them
@LaSiguanaba the remedy could be as simple as just a bit more light which will lead to less water issues and if higher humidity then I really think he will pick up. And if you don't fertilizer, it is important to do so. But I will leave it there as someone may have had the exact same plant exhibiting the exact same presentation, etc..
@Seymour Thanks for all the infoโ€”itโ€™s very helpful! Time to look at humidifiers I guess, lol.๐Ÿ˜‚
@LaSiguanaba I l know Jess found a good one recently because I asked her about it...do you want the Amazon details? Or rather explore the exciting world of humidifiers. I know people talk about misting and I have no humidifier but I have a flowering nepenthes despite that but really for humidity, as the name suggests /a humidifier is best..almost a Mohammad Ali quip then LOL
@Seymour Sure, if you have an Amazon link to a good humidifier, Iโ€™d really appreciate it. Thanks Seymour!!! ๐Ÿ™‚
@LaSiguanaba I may take a little time, it's like a jungle in ๐Ÿ‘‚ I mean here, why would I ever say Ear LOL that was a giant mistake LOL ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜„
@LaSiguanaba I have this one for my office it was $20 and works great.. would recommend for a cheap solution and keeps it now at a good 65% humidity. Also has a decent size water tank so not having to refill after an hour

Maybe change soils so the soil is not so damp. And make sure to keep an eye on the plant, this is what Iโ€™m thinking, and I hope your plant gets better.:)๏ฟผ๏ฟผ๏ฟผ๏ฟผ
@Sup Thanks! I hope I can figure out whatโ€™s going on.
