It's hard to say without having seen the plant through the process, but here are some common reasons:
-Something happened in transit that you didn't know about
-Transplant shock
-The new pot was too big and it got root rot
-It had a disease or pest coming from the nursery

I always wait at least 2 wks before repotting to give them time to acclimate to my environment. I also wait till I have a really good root system that's telling me it needs more room. If there's way more soil than roots it cud go into shock. I definitely did that a few times before started actually learning about plants.
