Rattlesnake Calathea Help

Does anyone know what could be wrong with my Rattlesnake Calathea based on this picture. It used to be purple dots on top of my leaf but it is growing. Is this a sign of root rot or something else? What is the best soil mix when I repot it? Thank you! #RattlesnakePlant #CalatheaCrew #Calathea

Has it been in direct sunlight? They are shady lovers.. it doesnโ€™t look like an infection or anything.. so Iโ€™d guess water and light.. but I could be wrong
@Idplantthat The sun in my office south west window has gotten brighter so I did have to move it further away. It has gotten worse since then but maybe the damage was already done and expanded.
@Sarabelle29 Iโ€™d probably just let it try to adapt to its new not so bright environment, sounds like you already solved the problem! I hope it clears up, if you get worried just clip off the damaged leaves and disinfect the cut leaf.
- but thatโ€™s just me
@Sarabelle29 wow that looks really odd. Have never seen anything like it๐Ÿ˜ฎ First guess it might be reacting to something in the soil or water or fertilizer? They should definitly not go purple on the front like that..
Or a really crazy sunburn parhaps?๐Ÿ™ˆ (They don't really want any direct sun at all)
@MockingJay The only thing I changed besides moving out of the window as Spring brought a brighter sun was changing from tap water after 12 months to distilled water. No fertilizer ever. I just repotted it tonight and it was extremely root bound. Will see if that helps.
