My purple tomatillo is dying and I don't know why :(

I'm new to gardening and was given a bunch of plants and my purple tomatillo seems to be dying. #newplantmom #outdoorgrowing
2โ€ pot with drainage
Last watered 5 months ago
Seems to be overwatered and suffocated? Check for root rot possibly if it smells a bit
Also are the leaves burned? Hard to tell by the picture
@FoxInSilence It does not smell but it has been in bright sunlight. I will try watering less, moving it to a dimmer spot, and I will repot it.
Sounds best, let it dry out before putting any water, possibly taking it out of the pot and wrap it in newspaper a few times for about an hour at a time in the shade to collect the moisture as much as you can but not overwhelmingly, try not to mess with the roots. After that back in its pot and don't water it for a good amount of days in partial shade until it's ready for more water. It's what I started doing when I accidentally over water my plants. Hope it helps
