Although it is most often that the pups grow around the base they can also grow on the mother plant itself, so in-between the leaves. This is 100% normal!! So nothing to worry about :)
Wow your zebra is so dark and the white is so prominent! Super interesting and yeah seems like it’s just some new growth/pups!
