Droopy leaves
#Avocado How can I stop my avo plants leaves from slightly drooping like this? Currently only Maropi, the second to be germinated and second to be potted is doing this.
I will share what I have learned through mine which is about 2 years old. I keep mine outdoors year round on my shaded porch. My area is very dry with temperatures of 100-110 degrees all summer. Including today when I snapped this photo for you. I keep mine there through winters as well we donβt get snow but it gets very cold into the 20 degree range for a good couple of months. I think this really help it to go dormant most trees want that period of rest. It does not lose its leaves which always surprises me but it does slow growth considerably. I water mine EVERY day during summer even if itβs just a little. These trees need it they want a consistently moist soil. It wonβt appreciate being completely dried out. Most of my plant are in a base of other peat moss or coco coir. This is really important because they both retain water. I actually fertilize this in spring with granulates but only once a year.
Now I wanted to point out the older leaves do indeed droop even on mine this is normal they are heavy. To encourage the plant to produce more leaves I prune it even during the growing season if the leaves look spare I prune. This encourages branching out and leaf development so donβt be afraid to prune it! It will still gain height but will also branch out. When this tree had about six leaves I cut off the top 2 on each stem. Hope this helps! π
