I got this plant when we downsized my mother who has deme...

3ft to light, direct
4” pot without drainage
Last watered 1 month ago
If you gave this to me today, I would remove the dead leaves and gently pull it out of the pot to check the roots. Any roots that are smelly or blackened or shriveled can be trimmed off above the rot with a sterile scissors (wipe with rubbing alcohol before and after.). And - this is knowing nothing about the plant. From there I’d pot it up with fresh soil (old soil gets drained of nutrients unless you fertilize) and make sure it can drain well when watered. If you love a pot that doesn’t have drainage holes, pot it into a plastic pot with lots of drainage holes that you can drop back in the other one once it is done draining. I’m not sure about the frosted window and whether the right kind of sun will come through, so I’ll leave that to other commenters or Google. Plants are a great hobby for you while helping your mom. It’s a nice little life-giving hobby with relatively low stakes, and great community support online and probably in your area, too. Due to remarriages I am now supporting a third parent through dementia and they have each been very different. I wish you well.
