White spots on my new plants leaves.

I just got this in today and I'm wondering if this is a good placement for my plant. It is an East facing window. My last one died, so I want to salvage this one.
Any tips on where I should place my plant and any care tips would be much appreciated.
Also, can anybody tell me what these white spots are on the leaves?

Iโ€™m not sure what the white spots are, but i get these every year and mine are still growing, but have yellow spotted leaves. I have them outside my breezeway and recently found these little white bugs on them so I sprayed them all.
Ii just had something similar to this happen to my baby snake. I was told most likely thripes or other insect. Hopefully that's not your problem. If you just got this today could it be that they were watered or treated with something that dried on the leaves? To be safe I would isolate this plant 2 weeks and treat it.
Thank you for the advice! I will do that now. I bought it off of Amazon. the flowers that have already bloomed are falling off, but it's watered, so I don't know why it is so fragile.
I love the mandevilla plants!!
