Is melted snow equal to rain water?

I have collected rain water for this plant, rather than using my chlorinated tap water, but now it’s too cold to rain! Can I melt snow and use that water? Also, for my tap water I run it through a brita filter attached to the kitchen sink, into a big jug and let it sit overnight, so that hopefully some of the chlorine will dissipate. The filter should remove some chlorine as well right? Would this water be ok? I added a photo because he lost a lot of leaves when I brought him inside in the fall, so we are at a precarious stage where I don’t want to kill him! #CalatheaCrew #calatheamakoyana #makoyana #HappyPlants #rainwater #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #theamigos #NEPAGregGang #help

Yeppers! I asked the same question and the answer was a resounding yes. Just make since to stay away from areas treated to melt the snow…duh. But I’m doing the same for my Ms. Sophia, a Calathea β€œFreddie”
Interesting I never thought about letting tap water sit to remove chlorine.
@GreenPurpose great! Thank you. πŸ™ it made sense to me but I don’t hear many people talking about it! lol
@HeraldedFantasy I also use de-chlorinator that’s normally used for aquariums to treat tap water. I definitely have seen marked improvement in my plants. Only takes a small amount to treat gallons of water
In my opinion it's like the ice cube method for orchids l. Generally not a good idea, but if you defrost it and let it reach room temperature first it should be alright
@Araceae right, I wouldn’t want to use super cold water. I’ll let it sit for a day to warm up. Thank you.
I have used snow-water on this plant for the past 2 winters, works great. You just need to make sure it is really room-tempered and not still coldπŸ˜† Depending on how much you gater, I will fill like a bucket and it doesn't melt completly on the first day, so it is still cold on the second dayπŸ™ˆ
In my experience they tend to get some damaged leaves during winter, but in spring new healty leves emerge and I just cut the damaged onesπŸͺ΄
@MockingJay thank you! I have been struggling with this makoyana since I brought it inside for the winter. It was sooo happy outside, and it got tons of rain. When I brought it in I lost a bunch of leaves and I don’t think I’ve had any new growth yet.
