@mushroomprince close, the leaves die until there’s like two left. Then it’s just chilling till spring. When spring hits it gets all new leaves.
Ahhh yes. The little issue that nobody asked for. If you’re a first time alocasia mom, this is not you. When also don’t get enough light they store up energy! How they do this is they kill of leafs until only two are left. It’s not a you problem, it’s a alo thing. Here’s my Sammy who’s going dormant 😄
@PHILO oh so it needs more light?
@mushroomprince , not really. If you give it too much the last couple of leaves will dry up. It’s inevitable for alocasia to go into dormancy. So no, there’s really nothing. It will just sit there for 3-4 months with maybe 2-3 leaves. No new growth, that’s why alocasias aren’t my favorites. Very beautiful one! I’m not sure but @PoisedAlbo Audrey or the creator of #brunchataudreys knows a lot of about them unfortunately I don’t know if she is active. Thanks tho, I’m just the philodendron guy!
@PHILO so it’ll keep dropping leaves forever?
Until it gets to about two or three. Then it just kinda chills there. Until spring, which is a while away. It’s just gonna be a bit boring for the winter. That’s why I don’t see the appeal @mushroomprince
@PHILO ohhhh this is just a winter thing? In the spring the leaves will look normal?
