@WiseNoblefir in my unprofessional opinion, it looks like edema. Edema happens when the roots take up too much water and the cell bursts. I assume the soil is retaining too much moisture and not drying fast enough. I would suggest repotting with a chunky/gritty succulent mix with added perlite for extra drainage and aeration.
I know the stems will harden and begin looking brown like that. I was worried the first time I saw if because I didn't know it was normal. Maybe this has something to do with what happens to the stems?
@FairyFly Iโ€™d have to agree with you. I had my Jade in a glazed pot that was too big for it with regular potting mix without perlite and it was retaining so much moisture that I would wait a month (sometimes past) without watering it and the middle would STILL be damp. I then repotted it with cacti mix and switched it to a terracotta pot (Succulents love them).

@PrimoSpurflower I'm just glad succulents are so forgiving.
