It is normal for it to grow from one stalk, but the hole is not normal. Your soil looks quite compact and wet, I would consider repotting into a cactus/succulent soil that’s chunkier and drains easily. I water my aloe vera only when the soil has completely dried out top to bottom to precent root rot.
@ContentlyChives pretty sure the hole is where you were watering. Too strong in one spot will make holes if it’s got any air holes. I do it often, and just add more soil where it needs it.
