Scales on my cactus?

I don’t know if Greg identified my cactus correctly. It has these scales on it.

Any ideas?

So if it flowers, Greg is correct. If it doesn’t, it may be a Tephrocactus 🌵

It def looks like a prickly pear to me. As for the sort of scabbing you are seeing, it looks like corking, which is either just a sign of the plant maturing, or remainder from previous damage the cactus has endured. Corking happens to many different types of cacti, and is not a real indicator for identifying which type you have.
