Nope! A lot of plants go through winter dormancy and I think that might be happening with your orchid. Their orchid flowers are just flowers, not the whole plant. As long as your orchid plant is healthy and happy, you’ll get flowers come spring πŸ’š
Orchid flowers will last anywhere from a week or so to months, depending on the species. Phalaenopsis flowers can last for weeks. And they may keep developing new buds on the flower stalk that then bloom for weeks. You can do a couple of things to encourage more flowers - cut the flower stems that have the clips on them off. Wait for new flower stalks to develop which can take several months. Not uncommon to not flower again for a year or so. It’s important to give the orchid proper care (light, water, healthy medium) so that it can spend energy on flowers. Or you can cut back the stalk to where one of the first flowers developed. Sometimes another flower stalk will form off of that!! It takes a lot of energy for the plant to do that so keep that in mind. I wouldn’t do it with more than one stalk as you learn more and care.
