Why would my soil be getting mold on it?

@PrettySugarvine the soil is constantly moist and grows mold and can also allow gnats to lay eggs and reproduce, try watering less frequently or with less water. Most medium to small plants like about 1 cup of water every other week or so depending on the species ð
Reduce watering frequency. Does the pot have drainage holes?
