Struggling Bromeliad
This little one is potted in a blend of succulent mix, sand, and sphagnum, but is just dry and crispy and sad - even moreso than in his photo. Heβs getting lots of light. Help??

2β pot with drainage

Pet peeve of mine is people who recommend watering Bromeliad plants improperly. They are basically an air plant that cling to trees and should only be watered in the center cup of the plant. The putting soil really doesn't matter so long as they have a place for their roots to cling to. Bromeliads like bright indirect light, I have several and they're beside and east facing window.
Emmy, let your baby dry out and just keep water in the center cup of your Bromeliad and every couple weeks empty that "cup" and give Yoda and fresh drink!
I hope this helps, happy growing π₯°π±πΏπ

@Sassylimey When you say the centre cup, do you mean their little foliage cup??
@Sassylimey Thatβs fascinating! Well Iβd watered her yesterday because the last time had been a WHILE. Iβll let her dry out and then do that. Do they like humidity as well?
Mine have done ok with and without my humidifier, I don't keep mine in any direct sun, they get a little sun first thing in the morning but none after that just bright indirect light.
Keep me posted on Yoda @emmybee π₯°

@Sassylimey I definitely will! I moved him to my bathroom, which is (weirdly) where all my happiest plants are. Indirect light all day, no AC, humid but not artificially so. Iβll water his little cup as soon as his soil dries out a bit and weβll go from there! Thank you so much!
@Sassylimey After a relocation, a good spray of air plant food, and using your watering technique, Yoda is beginning to seriously perk up!
