Hi! You need to wait until the soil dries out (check with a finger or water meter).

Also - you don’t need to worry too much about direct light, ponytail palms are ok with it β˜€οΈ

As long as your plant isn't actually 22 feet away from the light, water it when the soil is very dry. The base of the plant holds the water for the plant, kinda like a camel's hump. (:

@BuffKurrajong These plants love to be outside in direct sunlight.
Your Pony needs a bigger pot, they love full sun , I have 2 in the ground in Arizona and one just hit 6’ tall. The bump on the bottom of the tree is to store water. I water every 4 days in hot weather you could water every 10-12 days about2 cups. If you fertilize use a fish based fertilizer and they love it. By the way this tree is endangered so nice work on growing one!
