Browning on underside of rubber plant leaves
Help! My rubber plant seems pretty healthy except for these brown spots that are spreading. It has 4 new leaves within the past month and 4 more on the way. Does anyone know what this browning is? I let it dry out between waterings, have given it fertilizer in the watering before last, it gets about 55%-60% humidity, sits by an east-facing window, direct sun for about an hour or less, otherwise bright indirect light #RubberPlant #FicusElasticaTineke

Does it wipe off? For me, I don't clean my leaves as much as I should and when I do- it. is. filthy.

Get a clean rag with some warm soapy water and see if it comes off.

I looks like it could be dirt (hopefully) or a sign of pests (hopefully not).
@sarahsalith Thanks for responding! It doesn’t wipe off πŸ˜₯ I actually just gave it a spray down and wiped all the leaves a few days ago and also sprayed neem oil just in case. I did the same thing a month or two ago and it’s been slowly spreading but lots of new growth. I keep Googling but can’t figure this out.
You know, I reread over everything. Have you considered moving it back from the window? Perhaps the sun is stressing the plant, even though it's only getting sun for a little bit.
@sarahsalith Thank you! I will try that. I’ve been stressed about this so I *really* appreciate you helping me out πŸ™πŸ™
@catalystshift not a problem at all! I want your plant to thrive. (: It's beautiful. After reading it again, I don't know why I didn't mention it first. All of my rubber trees are a bit further back from the windows.
@sarahsalith How far back are yours? Also I just looked at your plants, you have such a big and beautiful collection! I just started being a plant mom a few months ago so am new to this but have fallen in love with plants and want to make sure I’m doing them justice
My giant burgundy rubber tree is about 7 feet from east windows in a bright room. The Tineke and the Ruby are about four feet from a very crowded west window but they are up on a shelf so they don't get direct light.
@sarahsalith This is so helpful, thanks! I will move mine a bit back🀞
@catalystshift how is your plant doing? I need tips!!
