We so often share when we get new plants. I just wanted to share that I recently got rid of 15 plants or so and it felt great.
I wanted to focus my attention on my most favorite plants, and the others moved on to make someone else happy!
Never be afraid to pass along the plants that just don’t work for you 👍🏻

@PlantJedi I’m not totally sure. I got it at Trader Joe’s early in my collecting. I think it’s a Purple Passion?
@debbiedo I thought it was, those leaves are so impressive. I hope mine gets there. It’s looking so good.
@PrizedShadscale I’m sure yours will. Mine started as a cutting with 2 or 3 leaves from a neighbor. It dropped all the initial leaves, but just kept growing. They put out new growth on old stems too, which is cool 😊 Mine is doing much better in the southwest corner of the house (indirect light) than it did in a north window ☀️
@debbiedo wow what a BEAUTIFUL collection! I love your umbrella tree! How old is yours? Mine is a few years old, but not nearly as big.
@debbiedo I picked mine up at a local nursery and have already propagated it because of the way it was growing. (Wouldn’t be able to sustain the weight of the branches growing horizontally). It really is one of my favorite plants! 🥰
Unfortunately all my plants have to suffer the north window as it’s the only view I have from apartment living. ☺️

@PrizedShadscale My Maculata puts out crazy side growth. So far I’ve been able to tie it to this tri-pod, but the think some pruning will be in its future 😁
@coffeeNcalathea I think bromeliads are pretty but only certain colors. The rest I wouldn’t look at twice.

@LadyLiberal I’m not totally sure. I bought it off FB marketplace and she got it at a garage sale. I think at least 30 years 😳
@coffeeNcalathea I gave away a huge palm because I just don’t have enough humidity. And yes, giving away cuttings and pups is one of my favorite parts of having plants too! 💚
@debbiedo it was before it caught a fungus. It was going around. Then it didn’t tolerate the fungicide well. So I cut those two horizontal stems and they are growing roots and the remaining stalks are pushing out new growth. After it stabilizes, I will prune back the dying leaves and hope for new growth.

@coffeeNcalathea those are all lovely plants. I struggle with the calathea which is why I ask. I appreciate anyone that can grow them. I have a new appreciation for alocasias as I start to evolve in my skills. I used to only attempt pothos. ☺️
@coffeeNcalathea So true. Eastern WA doesn’t get the rain of Seattle. But I love all the different regions of the state ☀️
@PlantLord Thank you, I do love the trellis too! I have several other climbers that I plan to add when they get bigger. It’s hard to wait!

@coffeeNcalathea I will keep all that in mind. I currently have one and it is healthy and staying stable. No new growth but no death. So I will take the minor win as a win. ☺️ I keep a pebble tray under it and check on it when I’m doing rounds. That’s all I have the energy to give while it’s staying happy.
@coffeeNcalathea I also mistakenly my calatheas anytime I water them. Not sure if it helps? But they seem to be doing OK.
@TycoonCorncob I gave up on ivy too. I lost one to spider mites and another because couldn’t get the watering right. Not the plant for me!

@PlantJedi Trader Joe’s! I know, it was ridiculous. I think they were cheap because they had SO many 🙌

And I can definitely see why the photos would be the keepers!! ❤️🫣😍🙌🏻 I do agree with needing to PURGE as I seem to think I need one of everything! My daughter told me recently there was no way when I die that she could possibly take care of what I have… 🥹 no green thumb on her side.. , not really sure I have one.. 🤨. Especially seeing your plants!🪴

And it really does feel amazing not to have to care for plants that I wasn't in love with 🥳🪴
I got them.. not knowing if I would love them, and they have now all moved in with a new plant mom, and she was so happy! ☺️
And I have more time and room for the plants that I absolutely love! 🥳🍃🌱
