Is your Canna Lily in a pot or in the ground? Assuming it's in a container, they like their soil to stay consistently, evenly moist. Don't let the soil completely dry out, but make sure it's not soggy either, which can cause root rot. How long you should go between waterings depends on several things, like temperature, humidity, soil type, pot type, etc. It's best to always check the soil prior to watering to ensure it's not too wet. Once the soil has sufficiently dried out (the top inch or so feels dry), water throughly until it pours out drainage holes. Then let it dry out again, and so forth.
